Accessibility Statement — WCAG Conformance

Conformance level

WCAG 2.1 Level AA (partial conformance)

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Most of our site meets these requirements. Known gaps are listed below with timelines for remediation.

What we support

Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable via Tab, operable via Enter/Space, and have visible focus indicators

Screen reader compatibility — semantic HTML, ARIA labels on icon-only buttons, landmark regions (header, nav, main, footer)

Color contrast — text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)

Dark mode — full dark theme for users with light sensitivity

Text resizing — site works at 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling

Reduced motion — respects prefers-reduced-motion CSS media query

Form labels — all form inputs have associated <label> elements

Skip to content link — keyboard users can skip navigation

Descriptive alt text — all content images have alt attributes

Language attribute — <html lang="en"> set for screen readers

Known limitations

PDF file previews

Drag-and-drop file zones may not announce file selection state to screen readers. Workaround: use the click-to-browse button instead of drag-and-drop. Fix planned: Q4 2026.

PDF Privacy Scanner results

The scanner results panel uses color (red/amber/green) to indicate severity, which may not be distinguishable for color-blind users. Severity text labels are present but could be more prominent. Fix planned: Q4 2026.

Live counter animations

The homepage LiveCounter widget uses animated number changes that may be distracting for some users. prefers-reduced-motion is respected (animation stops), but the static number could be announced more clearly to screen readers. Fix planned: Q4 2026.

Standards we follow

WCAG 2.1 — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Level AA. The international standard for web accessibility.

Section 508 — US federal accessibility standard. We align with Section 508 requirements (which reference WCAG 2.0 AA, a subset of WCAG 2.1 AA).

EN 301 549 — European accessibility standard for public-sector procurement. Aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA.

ADA Title III — Americans with Disabilities Act, applied to web accessibility per DOJ 2024 final rule.
